TREATMENT OF RESPIRATORY DISEASES – SAFE USING FOR DAIRY COWS

Ceftiofur is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, though some consider it a “new generation” cephalosporin. It works by inhibiting cell wall synthesis. It shows bactericidal action against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Mannheimia, Actinobacillus, Streptococcus, Salmonella, and E. coli.

Active Ingredients

Ceftiofur HCl…………………………………100 mg

Excipient (MCT) qs………………………………………1 ml

Dosage

Cattle: single dose 1 mL per 15 kg of body weight, subcutaneous route in the base of the ear.

Horses: intramuscular route 1 mL per 15 kg of body weight.

INDICATIONS

Treatment of respiratory diseases (BRD, shipping fever, pneumonia).

Treatment of interdigital necrobacillosis.

 

Precautions

Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to ceftiofur or other beta-lactam antibiotics, or to any of the excipients

Storage

For meat:

  • Cattle: 9 days.
  • Horses: Do not use in horses intended for human consumption. 

For milk: 0 days.
